Spheres of Health Influence
Reference List
In this ten minute video, the Ecological model of health is described in the context of Public Health. The video covers why use of models is important for health care delivery and the application for Public Health is described. The video works through the example of obesity and what the impact might look like at each level of influence. It also briefly describes the CDC’s Health Impact Period to illustrate how looking at health issues contextually and at the SDOH when planning interventions can lead to larger Public Health impacts.

In this article, the spheres of influence in addressing the SDOH are examined as well as the ethical commitments of each sphere. It looks at the sphere of influence of the clinician, the health organization and the community and society. It is a quick read and I found it highly relatable to the hospital setting in which I work.

In this article, the authors use a reversed model of the Social Ecological Model to guide health promotion. They examine what happens when you put social policy and environments at the center and then build the community constructs that promote health. This is different from other articles which begin with the individual health impact factors and build outward.
